Nor’easter/High Wind Warning #2
Dear Resident,
We are under currently under a High Wind Warning until 6am Saturday. Rain, with snow at times, is expected through this evening. Wind gusts can be as high as 60 MPH with peak gusts this afternoon and evening.
High winds and wet ground bring a heightened possibility of downed trees, wires and power outages. The Mayor’s office continues to be in contact with JCP&L and they have confirmed that additional resources are available to address outages should they occur.
Outages should be reported to JCP&L as soon as possible. Reporting helps JCP&L to pinpoint the damage, isolate and restore as safely and quickly as possible. Please review this JLP&L flyer for the many ways to report an outage. http://www.marlboro-nj.gov/storm/A-Beacon-in-the-Storm.pdf
Please note the following:
- Immediately report downed wires to JCP&L or the Marlboro Division of Police. Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity.
- We suggest that you keep your electronics fully charged and have flashlights with fresh batteries readily available.
- Please secure or store any loose items such as garbage cans, flower pots, lawn ornaments, etc. as they can become dangerous projectiles in high winds.
- Drive slowly and with caution. The roads are wet, can become slippery and visibility reduced.
- Do not drive through a flooded roadway. Even low levels of water can be dangerous and even deadly. ‘Turn Around. Don’t Drown.’
As always, the Marlboro Police are available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100. For emergencies, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. We ask that you please NOT call the Marlboro Police for information regarding power outages and restoration updates. It is vitally important that Dispatch lines stay open for reporting of closed roads, downed trees and wires, and medical and fire emergencies.
