Coronavirus Update #7

March 13, 2020

Dear Resident,

Last night, following a meeting with Marlboro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) led by Chief Peter Pezzullo, the decision was made to postpone/cancel Township recreation programs and larger events effective today through April 3, 2020. We make these decisions based upon CDC guidance and consultation with the Monmouth County Health Department with the safety of our residents and personnel as our primary concern.

The following activities have been postponed/cancelled:
• Adult and youth winter classes (cancelled)
• Marlboro Soccer Association (suspended)
• Marlboro Basketball Association (suspended)
• Mother/son and father/daughter dances (cancelled)
• Summer staffing interviews (postponed)
• The Alliance/TAC Blood Drive (postponed)
• The Alliance 6th Grade Teen Night (postponed)
• Teen Advisory Committee meeting (postponed)

For the recreation fee based programs, pro-rated program credit will be held in your community pass account to be utilized when the program is rescheduled or for any other program registered for in Community pass (classes, camps, swim club, sports, etc.). The entire fee will be credited for one day events not yet held such as dances, teen night and trips.
Marlboro Township Code, Section 171-5.2 (“Refunds”) establishes an administrative fee to be assessed for the processing of program fee refunds. Yesterday, I signed Executive Order 2020-01, suspending the administrative fee for the duration of the Governor’s State of Emergency. Therefore, should you wish to have the program fee refunded rather than remain in your account, no administrative fee will be levied. Questions about recreation programs or if you choose to have the program fee refunded should be directed to . Please include the participant’s name and program title.

Please note that this list may not contain all postponements/cancellations and we ask that you continue to check the Township calendar on the website.
At this time, Town Council meetings, smaller committee meetings and boards may continue to meet as scheduled, although those without time-sensitive business will likely be cancelling meetings. The Municipal Court will continue to convene as scheduled pending guidance from the State Court system. On a separate note, I have asked staff to suspend all non-essential meetings on or off site. If you contact the Township for any emergency or non-emergency services such as inspections scheduled with any Township Department, note that personnel have been instructed to pose a series of questions which will assist the Township in serving you in a way which ensures the safety of all parties.

These policy decisions may be adapted based upon the changing facts on the ground. Please continue to follow CDC guidelines as outlined in my prior communications linked below and available on the Township website. We will continue to update you as the situation evolves.
