Coronavirus Update #15
Good Afternoon,
The following is the Friday afternoon update. Prior restrictions, important phone and web contacts, and other information are detailed in my Coronavirus Updates available on the ‘alerts scroll’ at www.marlboro-nj.gov .
- The Federal deadline has been extended to July 15 for all taxpayers and businesses without interest or penalties. The IRS urges taxpayers who are owed a refund to file as quickly as possible. More on the IRS website HERE.
- COVID-19 Information for NJ Businesses – The web link in yesterday’s Update #14 was incorrect. The correct link https://faq.business.nj.gov/en/collections/2198378-information-for-nj-businesses-on-the-coronavirus-outbreak Our apologies for the error.
- Monmouth County signed an Emergency Declaration. The declaration , in part, stated:
- The restriction on public access to county buildings is extended to April 3. This includes Monmouth County Libraries (including the Marlboro branch) and the Monmouth County Park System buildings. The declaration can be read HERE.
- Governor Murphy enacted a moratorium on removals of individual due to eviction or foreclosures. This move will ensure that no renter or homeowner is removed from their residence while this Order is in effect. These actions come a day after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac would be suspending all foreclosures and evictions for at least 60 days. The press release which includes student loan relief, financial assistance and business protections is linked HERE.
- Earlier this week, multiple US-based cellular customers received targeted text messages that falsely warned of an impending “mandatory quarantine,” highlighting cybersecurity concerns. These are FALSE. Please read the message from the NJ Office of Homeland Security HERE.
- The Bergen County COVID-19 testing site opened today at 8:00am. By early afternoon, they had reached capacity but 600 tests had been done. They will open again at 8:00am tomorrow.
- A testing site is expected to open at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ Monday, March 23 at 8:00am. You must be a current NJ resident, have symptoms or a doctor’s prescription to get tested. Residents are asked to bring identification and your health insurance card. Please note that there is no fee for testing and lack of insurance should not be a deterrent. If you do not have symptoms and have not been exposed to a person who has tested positive, there is no need to get tested. Please stay home. The testing site information will be posted on the NJ Department of Health website HERE.
I again want to state that when the PNC testing site opens and more people from Monmouth County are being tested you WILL see the numbers of people infected with COVID-19 increase significantly. We should be prepared for this and not be shocked or panic.
We continue to be in contact with our restaurants and supermarkets and will be sending you an update later today.
