Pleasant Valley Road – The state continues preparation to turn the 411 acres of the State Hospital Property to the County for a park.  The current project on PVR is a continuation of that cleanup.  While the State project was on-going the Township decided to use the opportunity to address safety concerns on Pleasant Valley Road.  Sloped curbing was installed to provide two feet of extra driving surface and provide more stability along this stretch. To widen the roadway more would have required a multi-year process requiring DEP permitting, moving utility poles, and property acquisition.  As the state completes their work on this stretch of the roadway, we will work with them to address other safety concerns prior to the full-width resurfacing.

The full 24-hour road closure has been lifted although residents can expect intermittent closures over the next few weeks.  We anticipate the resurfacing of Pleasant Valley Road between Conover Road and Mockingbird Lane to occur around mid-October

ROAD IMPROVEMENT WORK – This week, contractors are installing new handicap ramps on Colts Run, Jockey Court and Pacer Court in preparation for road repaving and reconstruction. Roads are open and accessible during this work.

As we approach spring, road repaving is set to begin again. Road Restoration program is a continuation of Mayor Hornik’s 4-part Road Repair Initiative. Information regarding this initiative, roads scheduled to be repaired, the process and notification of on-going work can be found by visiting www.marlboro-nj-gov and clicking the Road Repair Tab. As road improvement projects begin, notification will be made via email, social media and on the website.

While full road reconstruction does not take place during winter months, potholes can be reported throughout the year using the online Pothole Portal  Originally launched in 2014, it allows the residents who drive the streets every day to help direct Township resources to those areas most in need. The update places the user-entered complaint directly into the internal Township tracking system, allowing for more efficient response.
